- More than 24 million gallons of fuel per year will be saved.
- Vehicle emissions along the I-495 corridor will be reduced on the magnitude of 12 – 15%.
- Public health will be improved by the reduction of particulate matter.
- Reduced congestion and delays will improve travel time for more than 200,000 motorists per day on the Long Island Expressway, the Throgs Neck Bridge, the Whitestone Bridge, I-287 and I-95.
- The entire project will be of no cost to tax payers.
- The Cross Sound Link Tunnel will provide a crucial link for emergency access to Long Island in the event of severe weather or a catastrophic event at the bridge connections.
